Make sure you protect the access to the above ground pool by making the area safe:
- Above-ground pool not attached to an elevated structure (platform or deck)
- Temporary pools (soft sides, inflatable or not):
- If the sides are more than 1,2 m high, you do not have to install a pool fence around. However, the ladder to access the pool must have a self-closing latch;
- If the sides are less than 1,2 m high, you must install a 1,2 m high safety pool fence around. For chain link fencing, the links should be 30 mm or less. If the links are wider than 30 mm, insert vertical slats.
- Maintain a distance of at least 1 m between the pool and any structure or stationary equipment that could be used to climb the side.
- Above-ground pools attached to an elevated structure (platform or deck):
- You must install a 1,2 m high pool fence to prevent access to the pool from the structure. The fence gate must also be at 1,2 m high with self-closing latch . For chain link fencing, the links should be 30 mm or less. If the links are wider than 30 mm, insert vertical slats.
- Maintain a distance of at least 1 m between the pool and any structure or stationary equipment that could be used to climb the side.
