IN QUEBEC:
From July 1st, 2023, every swimming pools built before the regulation came into effect in 2010 will no longer be grandfathered.
From July 1st, 2021, the following rules will apply to new installations for swimming pool enclosure:
- Chain link fences with a mesh size greater than 30 mm will need to be slatted.
- No structure or fixed equipment that can be used to climb over the wall of a swimming pool or enclosure shall be installed within 1 m of the pool or enclosure.
- Pool with diving boards shall be installed in accordance with BNQ Standard 9461-100 for the prevention of cervical spinal injuries related to diving accidents.
The regulation for the safety of residential swimming pool will now apply to all pools, regardless of when they were installed.
